As the San Diego Legion’s 2021 roster continues to take shape, two more names - Keni Nasoqeqe and Ryan Matyas - were officially added for the already threatening squad. Both are very versatile players, who have been critical to the team’s winning streaks as well as building the rugby community in Southern California. .
Keni Nasoqeqe, a hard-nosed player who won’t take ‘no’ for an answer, will return as a lock and number 8 option for the SD Legion forward pack. Keni first picked up a rugby ball in Fiji, and since moving to the United States, he played an instrumental part in Belmont Shore men’s club side before joining SD Legion in 2019. A player with tenacity and exceptional leg drive, Keni will be abandoning defenders in the dust, while he finds himself continually over the try line in the 2021 season.
Ryan Matyas is back for a fourth year with the San Diego Legion. Ryan’s adaptability and skill set gives an immense amount of flexibility in the back line. Ryan, Eagle No. 486 began playing at a young age and has traveled around the world, building his rugby resume. Ryan was recognized by Major League Rugby as a Game Changer for all of the work he's done in coaching youth clinics and building the game in the U.S. He is an incredible asset to San Diego, both on the field as well as within the community.
