Starting in 2008 with Emerging Springboks winning the IRB Nations Cup, Bjorn stood out in the competitive South African rugby landscape. After competing against the British and Irish Lions twice in 2009 and breaking the Currie Cup record for most tries in a season, he secured his first Super Rugby contract with the Cheetahs. Bjorn would move onto the Blue Bulls, and in 2011, he was the Super Rugby joint top try scorer.
Creating buzz around his abilities, Springboks coaches took notice and he played 11 times for the Springboks from 2011 to 2013.
Explosive, skillful and an expert finisher, his finesse and pace are perfectly suited for the modern game. The other South African Super Clubs got his attention as he went on to play for the Stormers and Southern Kings.
