This Canadian International attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Where he helped the rugby team to win 4 out of 5 provincial championships. Lloyd also lead the team in tries for all 4 years and was awarded Male Varsity Athlete of the Year. This is awarded to an athlete displays qualities of scholastic achievement, competitiveness, leadership, sportsmanship, dedication and exceptional contributions to his team and community.
While at university, Lloyd was selected to the Ontario Blues Senior Men's team in the Canadian Rugby Championship, where he again lead his team in tries. In February 2017, he made his international test debut vs Uruguay. Since 2017, Kainoa has earned 18 international test caps, including 145 starts, and 8 tries.
